June 2017

At the June 19 general meeting, our main focus was Quilt College. Four members offered demonstrations for appliqué, sashiko handwork, quilting as you go, and a new type of philanthropy quilt. Nadine Cassidy demonstrated hand appliqué tips to take the fear away.  Joey Strait shared an easy and fun approach to quilt-as-you-go. Roseann Lieban showed her approach to get perfect sashiko stitches. Lynn Jurss introduced how to make weighted lap pads to donate to autistic children in special ed classes in Ventura County. Lisa Shepard and Kathy Dobner shared some festive holiday panels that will be perfect additions to the quilt show boutique or Quilts for Sale at the Sept Guild show. Joey Strait and Cheryl Sparks shared samples from Wendy Mathson and Rob Appell.  Many beautiful and sentimental quilts and handmade items were shared at Show &Tell. A few members shared flag quilts they made from Tina Curran’s workshop in April.
